hello.
welcome to another episode of my life updates where I drink coffee and tell you things I probably shouldn’t be saying.
it is currently 12:38pm in Tokyo. I am having a late coffee today.
let me tell you how I ended up here.
so this morning I started my day as usual. I woke up at the time I’m supposed to. I usually would take a quick morning walk and then go to one of the cafes I frequent often.
but I decided to take a trip out today.
the seams in my jeans came off and I don’t have a sewing kit. nor do I know how to sew. I walked past a Levi’s store a few days ago and saw that they have a tailor. I asked if they could fix my jeans for me and they told me to bring it back.
so today’s mission is to go get my jeans fixed. and I get to explore a new cafe. kinda exciting.
the Levi’s store is about an hour away by train. I took longer than I should to get there because of a few things.
I decided to buy a sandwich to eat before I take the train since it would be an hour long. I was thinking of getting coffee after I get there so I can write on my laptop as I have my coffee. but I also woke up with a really bad headache today. after I left the house, I remembered I have some leftover coffee in the fridge, so I went back home to drink it before I left again.
the journey is an hour. by express train. I wasn't really paying attention when I boarded and I took the local train instead of the express. so my train stopped at every stop instead of skipping a few in between. then I had to get out at a station and wait for the next one because the train wasn’t operating anymore. it’s fine. at least I didn’t take the wrong direction.
so by the time I got to the tailor, it was already past 11am.
the people at the shop were nice. I gave them my jeans and they charged me $8. they told me to go back and pick it up later. and I decided to walk around and try out a new cafe.
I walked past this cafe called “eggs n things”. it looks cute and sounds cute. I like eggs. everyone in the cafe was seated indoors but they have a nice outdoor area. I thought it would be perfect to get something to eat, have coffee, and sit there to write for a little bit. and pick up my jeans after. sounds like a nice plan.
I walked inside and asked if I could sit outside. the staff told me I could sit wherever I like. so I went out. a few minutes later, she came out with the menu and gave me a glass of water.
I looked at the menu for 2 minutes and decided on a burger. and a coffee of course. then I looked around and tried to get the staff’s attention. but I couldn’t really see them from where I was seated. it’s fine. I’ll just wait.
I posted a story earlier today to add people into my close friends. so I was adding some people. and I replied to some messages. and I people watched for a while. I saw multiple people coming in after me, all seated indoors. I saw them being attended by the staff and got their orders placed. I was still waiting for the waitress to come out and take my order.
I looked inside and some of them were just standing around. I’m sure they could see me sitting outside. but maybe they thought I’ve already ordered. I couldn’t see the waitress that served me. there was a dirty table in front of me and a crow was attacking it. I’m sure at some point someone would come out.
I replied to all my messages. I added the people I wanted to add. my head was hurting pretty bad now and I could really use some coffee. I was also getting hungry. lots of people continued to come but everyone sat inside.
I was debating if I should go inside and order. but honestly at that point, I was already thinking of leaving. they either forgot I was there or clearly didn’t care. if it’s taking that long to get an order, it might be a really long time before I could get my food.
so I left lol. after sitting for 30 mins. so much for getting clowned.
because I’ve been sitting there for so long, it is now lunch time. I saw a few cafes and restaurants along the way, but every single one of them have at least 10 people waiting in line. since everywhere was so busy, I probably wouldn’t be able to sit there with my coffee and write on my laptop after, even if I waited in line.
I think the experience made my headache worse and I thought it was funny how a cute idea of having my burger and then sitting with my coffee could turn disastrous so fast.
I walked a little further. away from the office lunch crowd. then I saw a Starbucks that was relatively empty. so I got a sandwich and a coffee and now I’m sitting here writing this. it’s a little different than how I imagined it, but now that I’m here, it’s nice.
I initially planned to write something else, but this is what I’m thinking about right now so I guess this is what I’ll write about.
I’m not too bothered. and writing this out is probably the rant I needed to make and I won’t think about it anymore. my head still hurts though. I don’t know why because I keep going through these periods where one day I feel great, and the next day I feel like shit.
anyway. I have 6 days left in Japan. it probably doesn’t matter anymore to think of something to fix it. soon I’ll be adjusting to a different climate and timezone again. I’ll probably write another update before I leave Japan.
alright. I’m gonna go pick up my jeans now. I hope you have a smoother start to your day than me.
bye.
ron
